Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan in Geneva Commemorates Nauryz with Planting of Apple Trees

In celebration of Nauryz, the staff of the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva has planted apple trees. A symbol of renewal and growth, Nauryz holds deep cultural significance across Central Asia, including Kazakhstan.

The ceremonial tree planting took place on in the garden of the Permanent Mission, where Permanent Representative Yerlan Alimbayev and diplomats from the Mission joined together in the spirit of Nauryz to contribute to environmental sustainability and promote the values of peace and prosperity.

Nauryz embodies the spirit of new beginnings and unity. By planting apple trees, we not only celebrate our shared cultural heritage but also affirm our dedication to environmental stewardship.

The apple holds a special place in Kazakh culture, symbolizing fertility, abundance, and hospitality. By planting apple trees, the staff of the Mission of Kazakhstan honors this tradition and underscores the importance of preserving nature for future generations.

Nauryz has been celebrated in a new format in Kazakhstan since 2024. On March 14, the decade of Nauryznama started, which will last until March 23. Every day of the decade has its own specific meaning. Millions of Kazakh citizens engage in charity events during holidays.
