The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan told about plans for licenses for these competitions, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The NOC of the Republic of Kazakhstan hopes that our athletes will be able to win licenses no less than in Pyeongchang-2018, although it will not be easy.
“46 athletes from Kazakhstan participated in Pyeongchang-2018, who won 91 licenses. You need to understand that in winter sports, 1 athlete can win 6 or more licenses. Now we are minimally planning that 48 Kazakhstani athletes will go to Beijing 2022 and win 95 licenses. Now we have 18 athletes and 38 licenses available, but they still need to be confirmed, athletes must take part in all starts and confirm licenses, ”said Yelsiyar Kanagatov, Director of the Sports Directorate of the NOC Kazakhstan.
He said that the preparation is going according to plan, the qualifying competitions have been approved, on January 16, 2022, the final composition of the athletes participating in the Olympics will become known. Kanagatov noted that funding for winter sports is going according to plan, this year it is planned to allocate 2.9 billion tenge, which is more than in previous years.
NOC Kazakhstan also speaks about medal plans with caution.
“During the period of Independence, Kazakhstanis won a total of 8 medals at the Winter Olympics, 4 of them were won by our famous skier Vladimir Smirnov. We know that we have 9 leading athletes who can get to the finals, in the Top 10, of which the bronze medalist of the last Winter Olympics-2018 Yulia Galysheva is in the ranks.
